As well as your agency, there are a number of organisations offering help and support on adoption. These include:

  • Adoption Contact Register
    Puts adopted people in touch with their birth relatives.
  • Adoption Search Reunion
    A service for searching for or making contact with birth and adopted relatives or researching an adoption that took place in the UK.
  • Adoption UK
    Provides support for adoptive families before, during and after adoption.
  • After Adoption
    A voluntary adoption agency working throughout England and Wales to help all those affected by adoption.
  • BAAF
    Supporting, advising and campaigning for better outcomes for children in care.
  • First4Adoption
    The dedicated information service for people interested in adopting a child in England. The service is a partnership managed by the charities Coram, Coram Children’s Legal Centre and Adoption UK, and is supported and funded by the Department for Education.
  • Independent Review Mechanism
    Providing adoption applicants in England with the option of applying to an independent body to review the adoption agency’s determination not to approve them as adopters or to withdraw their approval.
  • Natural Parents Network – A self help organisation which offers non-judgmental, confidential and independent support to people who share similar experiences.
  • The Who Cares? Trust
    Charity providing a voice and a champion for children and young people in the UK living in care.
